The Barcelona Chair is one of the defining pieces of twentieth-century modernism. Designed in 1929 for the German Pavilion at the Barcelona International Exposition, it was conceived as a seat fit for royalty, and its crossed X-frame has not dated a day since. How our Barcelona chairs are made
- Frame: a one-piece stainless-steel frame, welded rather than bolted, then hand-ground and polished to a mirror finish. Unlike chromed mild steel, it does not rust when the surface is scratched.
- Leather: the surfaces you sit on and lean against are genuine leather, hand-tufted with buttons; the parts you do not touch, such as the backs and undersides of the cushions, are a colour-matched PU leather.
- Cushions: high-resilience, fire-retardant foam that keeps its shape, resting on leather support straps across the frame.
- No assembly: the frame arrives in one piece and the cushions fit onto it in minutes. A chair weighs about 21 kg, so it stands solidly.

Delivery is free to Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Orders are dispatched within 1–2 working days and tracked delivery normally takes 5 to 8 working days. For the UK, Switzerland and Norway, any import VAT or customs charges are paid by the recipient. Every product carries a 2-year warranty, and you have 14 days from delivery to return it if it is not right for you.
Caring for your Barcelona chair
Wipe the leather with a soft, slightly damp cloth and use a leather care product now and then; keep the chair out of strong direct sunlight so the colour stays even. Polish the stainless-steel frame with a dry microfibre cloth.
