The Eames soft pad office chair black is our faithful tribute to the executive icon Charles and Ray Eames perfected within the Eames Aluminium Group, pairing a polished aluminium frame with deep black full-grain Italian leather. The high-back EA219 sits at the meeting point of lightweight engineering and genuine luxury, ready to elevate any home study or corporate boardroom.

Why choose the Decomica Eames soft pad office chair black

First introduced in 1969, the EA219 was the Eames studio’s answer to the demand for a tall, supportive executive seat that still felt featherlight to move. Our reproduction honours that ambition: soft, segmented black leather pads cushion your back and seat, while the five-star aluminium base glides effortlessly on smooth castors. It looks smart and minimal yet inviting, which is exactly why this black leather edition works so well from a spare-bedroom desk to the plushest office floor.

Key features

• Deep black full-grain Italian leather upholstery over high-density soft pads for all-day executive comfort.
• Polished five-star aluminium base with smooth-rolling castors and a tall, supportive high-back profile.
• Adjustable tilt, gas-lift height adjustment and a full 360-degree swivel for effortless ergonomics.
• Hand-finished black-and-chrome aesthetic that suits both modern and mid-century interiors.

We have specialised in mid-century replicas for over a decade, and every Eames soft pad office chair black leaves our workshop only after our own team has inspected it by hand. We check the grade and stitching of the black leather, the polish and rigidity of the aluminium frame, and we test the swivel, tilt and height mechanisms before the chair is carefully packed for dispatch.

Eames soft pad office chair replica: frequently asked questions

Is the leather on this Eames soft pad office chair replica genuine?

The parts you sit on and lean against, the seat and the front of the backrest, are genuine aniline leather. The parts you do not touch, the outer back and the underside, are a colour-matched PU leather, so the chair looks uniform from every side.

How does the tilt mechanism on the Eames EA219 work?

The seat and backrest tilt back together as one unit; the backrest angle is not adjusted separately. A tension knob sets the resistance to your weight, a lock holds the chair upright, and the chair has gas-lift height adjustment and a 360-degree swivel.

Can I get soft castors for wooden or tiled floors?

Yes. We fit soft, floor-friendly castors free of charge on request; just write it in the order notes at checkout, for example “please fit soft castors”.

How is this Eames soft pad office chair replica delivered?

Delivery is free and tracked to the EU (except Bulgaria, Cyprus, Greece, Malta and Romania), the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Norway, and normally takes 5 to 8 working days. For the UK, Switzerland and Norway, any import VAT or customs charges are paid by the recipient.

What warranty and returns come with this Eames soft pad office chair replica?

Every chair carries a 2-year warranty, and you have 14 days from delivery to return it if it is not right for you.

Is the Eames EA219 made by Vitra or Herman Miller?

No. The Eames EA219 is an independent reproduction of the design. It is not made by, affiliated with or endorsed by Vitra or Herman Miller, which is why it costs a fraction of a licensed original.
